Broken Zodiac

This story appears in the Peninsula Daily News:
FRIDAY HARBOR — The 126-foot main mast of a schooner often seen in Port Townsend, Victoria and the San Juan Islands snapped while sailing near the San Juans on Saturday.
Two passengers were injured in the afternoon incident aboard the 86-year-old Zodiac, a Coast Guard spokesman said Saturday night.
An eyewitness reported that 22 schoolchildren were aboard for a day sail in clear and sunny conditions when its main mast broke in half and fell across the port side.
The Coast Guard responded to a distress call from the Bellingham-based charter vessel about 2 p.m.
The 127-foot, double-masted schooner was just north of Lummi Island, and the Coast Guard launched an MH065 Dolphin helicopter from Air Station/Sector Field Office Port Angeles as well as two 33-foot response boats out of Bellingham.
 I Love this ship
I will be glad when they get her fixed.
They were so lucky that there were no
serious injuries .

Thanks for you comment. I love mooses too, both inside & outside. I am careful of the outside ones though. I stood rigt next to my door to snap those pictures, so I could just step inside the dor if he decided tocoe my way.

I read that in the paper and immediately thought of you. What an awful thing to happen. Does anyone know why? What excitement for the kids.
so how are you? I was up in Bellingham today--just a quick zip through but I did stop at Squalicum Marina. MB for a few pics

Oh my Betty. I'm so sorry to hear about your Zodiac and read the story, but as you say it is a good thing no one was seriously injured. That IS a beautiful ship and I'm sure they will get her back in top sailing shape soon.
SOOO glad to see you back. I've missed you!

Welcome back. But I'm sorry that it has to be such a sad post for you and the Zodiac. She is too important for them to let her go, so she will be back in her glory soon I'm sure. - Margy
